How We Built Our Site

Thank you for taking an interest in learning more about us. We are happy to tell you a bit about who we are and why and how we built this site.

Here is our story:

"We" are a husband and wife team who chose to live in Ottawa after travelling around the world for numerous years.

Louise is originally from Ottawa but Richard is originally from England. We met in 1995 while we were both working abroad. We were fortunate to visit a lot of different countries and had a lot of fun doing it but in 2001 we decided that we finally needed to settle down and call somewhere "home". As much as we enjoyed our time travelling and working abroad we really looked forward to finding out what the future had in store for us like getting married, buying a home, starting a family etc.

Here are answers to some questions that you may have about us:

Why did you choose to live in Ottawa?

The decision on where to live was an easy one to make. We both loved it here (Louise was originally from here and Richard had visited on numerous occasions). We loved the fact that it was the Capital City but it wasn't too big and you didn't feel lost. It was small enough to get around easily but it was large enough that it had everything we needed.

We loved the people, the cleanliness, the amenities and the abundance of nature. We loved the biking paths, the walking & hiking trails and the Rideau Canal. We loved the festivals and the change of seasons. There really wasn't anything that we didn't love about Ottawa. So, the decision was final.

What have you done since you moved back to Ottawa?

We moved back here in 2001 and have been busy ever since. We have accomplished so much in these past few years. Pretty much in this order:

• Richard received his Permanent Residency;
• we located and rented an apartment (wasn't easy to do at that time as it was a landlord's market and there wasn't a lot to choose from – it has since improved)
• we both got full time jobs
• we got engaged
• we planned our wedding & then got married
• we bought a brand new home; and
• last but certainly not least, we welcomed home our little puppy (he is such a cutie - we had to attach a picture of him)!

Why did you build this site?

We are forever telling friends and family who don't live here about our great city. We have hosted a lot of visitors over the years and we love taking them around to the various sites and attractions. Louise is in her element when she is planning our visitors' trips to Ottawa!

One of our friends suggested that we should build a site to tell others about it. He said that we could make a site for visitors to Ottawa and even touch on subjects that residents would be interested in too (i.e. wedding planning, buying a home etc). We thought it was an excellent idea and decided to go for it.

So, there you have it! That is "us". We are just your average couple living in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and loving it!!
