The first Glengarry Highland Games were held in 1948, and it has now become one of THE largest Highland Games in the world! The bonus is that it takes place only 45 minutes from Ottawa!

Hundreds of thousands of people flock to Maxville, Ontario to share in the festivities which include pipe bands, fiddling, Highland dancing and sports such as tug of war and sheep dog demonstrations.

The Games are steeped in tradition with more than 60 bands competing in the North American Pipe Band Championships. The heavyweight games are incredible events.

You can even make a weekend out of the excursion because the grounds offer 2 camping sites, one for motor homes and another for tent camping. There are concessions and of course...adult beverages!!
