Therapeutic Horseback Riding:

A special note: Therapeutic riding, also referred to as Equine Assisted Activity or Adaptive Riding, allows people with disabilities to experience companionship, responsibility, empowerment and teaches those with emotional, social or psychological issues to care for and ride a horse. This also prompts the students to communicate efficiently and to connect on a personal level with the horse. The smooth motion of the horse has many benefits for those with physical disabilities. For riders who are not able to walk on their own, riding can help to exercise muscles that are used in walking and for balance. For individuals with cerebral palsy and multiple sclerosis, it can help improve gross motor function and balance.
