Ottawa Folk Festival
The Ottawa Folk Festival is another one of Ottawa's best music events. The Festival actually
presents shows throughout the year at various locations but its main event is the summer festival
that is held at Britannia Park.
The 2008 Ottawa Folk Festival (summer festival) is being held from August 14 – 17. Britannia Park will host the events from Friday to Sunday.
Some of the artists in previous years included:
- Steve Earle
- Ron Sexsmith
- Ferron
- Dar Williams
- Iris DeMent
- Lynn Miles
- The Sadies
- and many more artists.
Here is some information about the location of the festival, Britannia Park:
- if you are driving, take the 417 and get off at the Pinecrest exit. Head North to the Park
- there are plenty of OC Transpo buses that will take you within walking distance
- the NCC bike paths take you to the park so you might want to hop on your bike
Here is some additional information that you may find useful about the Jazz Festival:
- you are encouraged to bring chairs and/or blankets
- pets are not allowed
- glass containers are not allowed
- a great way to see all the shows and help out in your community is to volunteer at the festival
Besides the main stage, there are other events that take place at the festival:
- musical instrument workshops
- the CUPE EnviroTent
- family area for activities and crafts
- a community drumming jam
There are different ticket packages that you can buy for the event. Some passes allow you to see
almost any show or you can buy individual tickets. Tickets can be purchased at the following
locations:

- the Ottawa Folk Festival Office by calling 613-230-8234
- three CD Warehouse locations
- Ottawa Folklore Centre on Bank Street
- and many other locations around Ottawa.
