Ottawa
Tobogganing

The Ottawa tobogganing hills offer hours of enjoyment for all ages. Have you ever been tobogganing? If so, then you know firsthand the excitement you feel when you are coasting down the snowy hillside. If you have never been tobogganing then we highly recommend it – it is an exhilarating winter sport!

Tobogganing can be enjoyed by everyone. We often end up spending more time watching other people toboggan because we love seeing the young and young at heart enjoying themselves so much.

Have you seen some of those fancy sleds that they have now? We can still remember when we were younger and we would grab whatever we had laying around the house to go sliding down the hills – it could have been a sled or a piece of plastic or a piece of cardboard. As long as it slid on the slippery surface we were happy!

Are you ready to have some fun? Please read our safety tips at the bottom of this page before heading out.

Here are some safety tips for the entire family so you can enjoy your day tobogganing in Ottawa:

  • Everyone toboggans at their own risk
  • Stay to the side of the hill when climbing back up the hill
  • Young children should not toboggan alone.
  • Children should be taught about the dangers of tobogganing and what they should look out for.
  • Keep toboggan equipment in good condition.
  • Avoid hills & slopes that end near streets & traffic.
  • Before tobogganing, check the hill for obstructions or holes. Also check that there are no hazards such as trees, rocks or fences.
  • Dress warmly.
  • Don’t toboggan on frozen water surfaces because they may not be completely frozen.
  • Do not stand while you are tobogganing.

Grab your toboggan or sled, round up the family and enjoy your day out on the Ottawa tobogganing hills.
