We planned our own weddings but we have had many friends who have decided to hire an Ottawa Wedding Consultant. Why? Because the Planners (or Consultants) know everything there is to know about planning a wedding. They have the experience and the knowledge to make it all come together.

A few points to think about:

• make an appointment with a couple of planners first so you can get the feel for the right one. You are going to be in contact with this person often so you want to make sure you are comfortable with them
• ask about payment - how do they want to be paid? Can you pay in installments? Do they want the majority up front? Can you pay some after the event is over? It their rate hourly or a flat rate?
• tell them all your ideas and see if they are willing to work with what you want. They will obviously offer suggestions as they are the experts but this is your day so you want to make sure that they will do everything they can to plan it the way you would if you were doing it yourself
• what is their role on the actual day of the wedding?
• do they decorate or do they hire decorators?
• if you don't have certain services in mind (cake, DJ etc) then ask for their recommendations
• ask for a list of references
• do they have photos from weddings they have planned before?

There really is a lot to think about for your wedding and when you want to hire an Ottawa Wedding Planner or Consultant.
