There are a number of places to go camping in Ottawa and the surrounding area. They cater to tourists as well as locals wishing to get out and enjoy some fresh air and fun!
Some of the Ottawa campgrounds can accommodate recreational vehicles (RVs) as well as tents. Others may even rent out tent trailers. Whatever type of campground you are looking for, you will be happy to know that there is one for everyone!
We are very new to camping. If you asked us 8 years ago when we didn’t have kids we would have told you that we weren’t interested in camping. However, now having kids, we really enjoy it. Even though it is quite a bit more work then staying in a hotel, it is a lot more fun. Our kids love it. The minute we set up the tent their imaginations just start to run wild. The love the fresh air, sleeping in the tent, the campfire and everything else that camping has to offer.
A great way to find out about the various campgrounds is to check online or ask family, friends and co-workers. Some offer just the basic amenities while others offer a lot more.
In order to avoid disappointment, make sure to call and book early as some sites book up very quickly.
So, grab your family, pack your bags and enjoy a weekend out at one of the Ottawa campgrounds:

We sometimes have very dry summers so if you are going to go camping make sure to check in advance if there is a fire ban at your campsite and plan accordingly. Making meals may change drastically for you if you don’t have a campfire to use.
We hope you enjoy camping in Ottawa this summer! Hope to see you out at one of the Ottawa campgrounds again next year.
