A fun day out with the family is at one of the apple orchards in Ottawa. What better way to get your kids to eat some fruit then to pick it themselves. They will be so proud!!
Apple season usually starts in mid-August and can continue as late as mid-November. Of course, every year and every season is different.
Besides picking some tasty, fresh apples, a lot of the local orchards offer activities for all ages like wagon rides and hay stacks to play on. Some offer baked goods (i.e. apple pies, cider) which you can purchase.
We bring our kids out every year and they really look forward to it. We end up spending a few hours roaming around and enjoying what the orchards have to offer (besides just the apples).
Don’t forget to bring your cameras because the orchards offer some great photo opportunities!!
